If you are a custom builder, the last thing you want after you have sold a new house is a call reporting problems. After all, you have worked hard to make the best product you can and on top of that, your reputation is on the line. The last thing you want to do after building a beautiful new home is to have a problem where the customer has to dig up a new lawn to fix a big problem.

Water in basements is a common problem. Sometimes, your engineers can design water drainage from French drains to retention ponds that can be constructed at the beginning of a project, preventing wet basements under normal weather conditions. But what happens if their calculations do not plan for an extremely wet season? It is you, the custom builder, that gets blamed. Take a moment to look at something that could save you and the new owner a bad headache.

An Ounce of Prevention

Waterproofing a new home at the time of construction is a smart move. While the footings and exterior basement walls of the home are exposed, it is easier to secure the basement from any future water, moisture and mold problems. It is especially important if the custom home includes plans for a finished basement, now or in the future.

How to Prevent Water

The patented Parks’ Free-flowing Waterproofing System protects basements in several ways. There is a waterproofing membrane that wraps around the basement walls. A concrete shelf is installed right on top of the footings that diverts water from the foundation. Next, there is a termite-treated protective insulation board that lines the exterior of the basement walls. Then, a four-inch wall of washed stone surrounds the perimeter of the basement to allow for drainage. At the bottom lies a double French drain pipe system to eliminate hydrostatic pressure.

Finally, a high-quality filter fabric surrounds the entire system to ensure it will last.

Peace of Mind

Interest rates are going up and custom home buyers are going to be even more particular about the builder they choose to buy from. Show your customers that you are doing more for the longevity of their investment. Call Parks’ Waterproofing LLC and see how their system can give you peace of mind. Protect your customers’ investment and your reputation for quality construction.
